Some projects just have a special place in your heart, and Project Burradoo is absolutely one of those for us.

You know when sports stars talk about their all-time favourite game? That grand final moment they’d happily relive over and over again?

Being part of this project feels like the pool-building equivalent of that for me.

Located in beautiful Burradoo in the Southern Highlands , this project features the 9m Echo fibreglass pool by Nexus Pools in Mist , surrounded by natural limestone, frameless glass fencing and some seriously clever design details.

But the real reason this project turned out so magic? The brilliant owner, Catalina Burradoo.

Her vision was clear, considered and, honestly, just perfection.

I still remember our very first conversation…

“High water line and drop edge tile.”

Say no more. Immediately obsessed.

Every element of this Burradoo pool project was intentional, and seeing all those details come together into one incredibly beautiful outdoor space was something pretty special.

The Pool: 9m Nexus Echo in Mist

At the centre of the space is the 9m Echo fibreglass swimming pool by Nexus Pools , finished in the colour Mist.

The soft pool colour works beautifully with the natural stone surrounding it and the architecture of the home, giving the entire outdoor area a light, understated feel that suits its Southern Highlands setting perfectly.

The Echo's clean lines also made it an ideal choice for this project, complementing the home's architecture rather than competing with it.

Custom High Waterline Pool Design

One of the standout details of Project Burradoo is something you might not immediately notice — but it makes an enormous difference to the finished result.

We created a custom high waterline , designed to bring the pool water as close to the drop edge tile as possible.

The result is a much more seamless transition between the water and the pool surrounds, creating that clean, almost resort-style finish Catalina had envisioned from the very beginning.

It was one of those details that required careful planning during the fibreglass pool installation , but absolutely paid off in the finished project.

Lavado Limestone Pool Surrounds

The pool is surrounded by beautiful Lavado Limestone from Barefoot Living , complete with a limestone drop edge around the pool.

The soft, natural tones of the limestone pair perfectly with the Mist pool colour and add warmth and texture without taking away from the simplicity of the overall design.

The drop edge creates a substantial, high-end finish around the pool and works especially beautifully alongside the custom high waterline.

This combination — natural limestone pool surrounds, drop edge coping and a high waterline — is easily one of our favourite details from the entire project.

Frameless Glass Pool Fencing

To keep the views across the pool and surrounding landscape as uninterrupted as possible, frameless glass pool fencing was installed by T&K Glass.

For a project where every material and sightline has been so carefully considered, frameless glass was the perfect choice.

It provides the required pool safety barrier without visually closing in the space or taking attention away from the pool, landscaping and architecture beyond it.

The Hidden Underground Pool Cover

And then there is one of the cleverest features of this pool…

The underground pool cover by Aussie UnderCover .

Rather than having a traditional pool cover roller sitting beside the pool, the cover system is concealed underground when not in use, maintaining the clean, minimalist look of the entire outdoor area.

It gives the homeowners the practicality of a pool cover without sacrificing the aesthetics of the space.

Designed to Complement an Incredible Burradoo Home

One of the privileges of working on this project was watching the home itself come together alongside the pool.

Built by Tasker Constructions , the level of craftsmanship and attention to detail throughout the home gave us a real appreciation for just how talented their team is.

For us, the goal was to ensure the swimming pool felt like it had always been part of the home's overall design.

The pool shape, water level, natural stone, fencing and surrounding finishes were all considered with the architecture in mind, resulting in an outdoor area that feels cohesive rather than added on afterwards.

And of course, the overall design vision belongs to the very clever and talented Catalina, who knew exactly what she wanted from day one.

We were just lucky enough to help bring it to life.

Featuring the 8.2m Unity Nexus Pool in Onyx , this Camden Park pool project is one we knew was going to be something special from the very beginning.

From our first consultation, Mel came to us with a clear vision — and honestly, the mood board of my dreams. As soon as I heard the words “black pool” , I crossed everything and said a little prayer that they would choose Billabong Pool Co. to bring it to life.

Thankfully, they did.

The result is a bold, modern outdoor space centred around one seriously beautiful black fibreglass swimming pool .

The Hero: 8.2m Nexus Unity Pool in Onyx

There are so many hero moments in this project, but obviously we need to start with that black pool .

Not just a vibe… THE vibe.

Mel and Troy selected the 8.2m Unity fibreglass pool by Nexus Pools in Onyx , creating a dramatic contrast against the lighter stonework and landscaping surrounding it.

The Unity is one of our favourite fibreglass pool designs for families, with generous swimming space, clean modern lines and an integrated splash deck that creates the perfect spot to sit, relax or let the kids play.

And in Onyx? Oh la la.

Detailed Pool Landscaping & Tiling

Then there’s the landscaping.

The tile work alone deserves its own appreciation post.

Every detail surrounding the pool was carefully planned, from the herringbone sections and crazy paving to the drop edges and intricate cuts required to bring the whole design together.

Our Landscape Supervisor Jack may be our resident thirst trap of a pool model, but unfortunately for him, good looks weren’t getting these tiles laid.

The planning, precision and workmanship involved were next level, and the finished result is chef’s kiss.

It’s exactly why we love being involved in the entire pool and landscaping process. When the swimming pool, levels, tiling, fencing, lighting and landscaping are considered together from the beginning, every element can work as part of one cohesive outdoor space.

A Three-Tonne Outdoor Fireplace

And then there is the fireplace .

Because apparently a black pool wasn’t enough of a statement.

The incredible Premier three-tonne fireplace by Flare Fires was shipped all the way from New Zealand before being installed on site by our team.

It creates another major focal point within the outdoor entertaining area and gives the space a completely different feel once the temperature drops — turning what could have been a summer-only pool area into an outdoor space the family can enjoy throughout the year.

Custom Flush-Mounted Pool Deck Lighting

One of our favourite details is also one of the smallest.

Mel came up with the idea of incorporating flush-mounted deck lights directly into the pool tiles , and we were more than happy to work out how to make it happen alongside Your Neighbourhood Electrician.

The result is subtle during the day but completely transforms the pool area at night.

It’s one of those details that demonstrates how much thought went into this project — nothing was added just for the sake of it.

Architectural Wall Panelling

The feature wall panelling by The Panellab adds another layer of texture to the outdoor area and was installed by the legend owner himself, Troy.

A landscaper in another life, Troy definitely knows how to execute a job to a high standard.

He also carried out a few unofficial site inspections along the way to make sure the boys were up to scratch, usually finishing with a:

“You boys are killing it.”

Which we’ll happily wear as a badge of honour.

The 9m pool was the perfect fit for this property and the generous tiled surrounds give the pool a luxurious feel.

The nearby fit pit allows for the landscaping on this property to be enjoyed all year round, especially on those frosty Southern Highlands days.

The recycled brick path, pillars and garden beds at the front of the house complimented the stunning custom gate the customers had installed.

This 6.1m x 3.2m mist coloured pool was installed on the vacant block prior to construction of the house, for convenient access. Our team then returned to finish the project when this incredible house build was completed.

The modern tiled pool surrounds of Hiekka Limestone, in 600x400mm coping and crazy pave format, contribute to the modern, tropical feel of this backyard.

The frameless glass provides security around the pool as well as complimenting the modern design.

This project really came together with the client’s choice to plant advanced “Hot Rio Nights” to beautifully frame the perimeter of the property.

Completing this project, our team installed the driveway and landscaped the front yard to harmonise with the backyard design.

This 6.1m x 3.2m beach coloured pool looks great with the classic travertine surrounds.

The pool was given the custom feel with the addition of a 2m sunpod in ‘White Haven’ mosaic tiles, a perfect area for the little ones to sit and play.
