Take the Plunge.
At Billabong Pool Co., we manage your entire pool project, from the first design sketch through to the moment you dive in. We handle council approvals, excavation, installation, landscaping and handover as one team, so you're never left chasing different contractors or wondering who's responsible for what.
It's an approach that comes from experience. Over 20 years in the pool and landscaping industry has taught us that the best pool builds happen when communication never breaks down between design and delivery, and that's exactly what we've built our business around. We also build with sustainability in mind, using energy-efficient equipment and eco-friendly materials wherever possible.

Family Owned
Billabong Pool Co. is led by husband and wife Mitch and Ellie Wetton, and that family foundation shapes everything about how we work. Mitch has spent over 20 years building pools and landscapes across Sydney's south west, and started the business on three principles that haven't changed since: honesty, quality and reliability.
Three years ago, Ellie left a decade-long career as a criminal lawyer to run the business alongside him, bringing the same care and attention to every contract, approval and phone call that she once brought to the courtroom. Construction Manager Jacob Dematos has been with Mitch since starting his apprenticeship at just 17, and between the three of them, the team has built pools for families across the region for years.

The Billabong Process
Every Billabong Pool Co. build follows the same clear process, from your first enquiry through to the day you're swimming in your new pool.
We start with design and approvals, finalising your layout and taking care of all council, Sydney Water and certifier requirements so nothing holds up your project unnecessarily. From there, we move into construction. We excavate your site, pour and cure the concrete bond beam, and crane your pool shell into place. We then complete the filtration, tiling, paving and landscaping to finish it off. Once your final inspection is complete, we walk you through handover, register your pool, explain your equipment, and hand you the keys to your new backyard.
The price we quote is the price you pay. Any additional work only ever happens at your request, and we confirm it with you in writing before it begins. Most projects take between 8 and 14 weeks from final design approval to completion, and you'll know exactly where things stand at every stage along the way.
Our Process
Stage One: Design & Approvals
Before construction begins, we finalise your pool design and lock in every approval needed to get you moving.
- Sign your contract and certifier documents, then pay your 10% deposit invoice to get the project underway.
- Review your final pool layout, finishes and any extras such as lighting, heating, automation or water features, and let us know of any changes before we lodge for approvals.
- We handle all required documentation on your behalf, including council and Sydney Water approvals, Home Building Compensation Insurance, and final plans for certifier submission.
- We use a Complying Development Certificate (CDC) for most projects, which moves faster and cuts through red tape. Where a property sits in a heritage or flood zone, or has other unusual conditions, we manage a Development Application (DA) instead and advise you every step of the way.
- Once we secure your approvals, we lock in your construction schedule and get in touch to begin site prep and excavation.
With your paperwork sorted and your schedule confirmed, we move straight into building your pool.
Stage Two: Construction
Your approvals are in — now we bring your pool to life.
- We confirm your start date with you once we've manufactured your pool shell and booked delivery, and issue your Stage 1 invoice at this point.
- We clear and prepare your site, asking you to move furniture and plants out of the pool area and keep kids and pets clear during work hours.
- We begin excavation at 7:00am on day one and usually complete it within one to two days. Our team works carefully, but you should expect some dust and mess — we're digging a big hole, after all.
- We crane your pool shell into place — a major milestone in your build, and a great photo opportunity.
- We stabilise your pool with backfill while filling it with water via hydrant, and issue your Stage 2 invoice once installation and filling are complete.
- We pour steel-reinforced concrete around your pool edge to form the bond beam, allow 5–7 days for it to cure, and issue your Stage 3 invoice once the pour is done.
- We connect and prepare your electrical and filtration systems — using your own electrician if you prefer (just share their schedule with us early), or ours if you'd rather we handle it.
- We complete your tiling, paving and landscaping once your concrete has fully cured.
- Where fencing is required, we arrange installation and confirm dates with you.
- With your permission, Ellie may capture progress photos or videos along the way, which we may also share on our socials.
Once every element is in place, we move you through to final inspection and handover.
Stage Three: Handover
We finish strong, guiding you through inspection, registration and handover so you can start enjoying your pool with confidence.
- We arrange your final inspection with a licensed certifier, and once it's complete, we help you register your pool at swimmingpoolregister.nsw.gov.au and send us your certificate. We also include CPR signage in your handover pack for you to display, and once everything's approved, you'll receive your Occupation Certificate. If minor changes are needed to meet compliance, we work with you to resolve them quickly and without stress.
- Mitch or Jacob walks you through your new equipment, maintenance routine and water care at your handover session — we recommend recording it for future reference. We issue your Stage 4 invoice once handover is complete.
- With your permission, Ellie may arrange completion photos or videos to mark the finished project.
- You dive into your finished backyard — don't forget to tag us on socials when you do.
- We stay only a call away for equipment help, maintenance and ongoing support long after your build wraps up.
From your first signature to your first swim, we're with you every step of the way.

Frequently Asked Questions
Are there any surprise costs we are not aware of?
We don’t do surprises!
We hear this a lot in the industry, that there are surprise costs like soil removal or additional landscape costs clients were not aware of.
We don’t operate like that.
You know exactly how much you will be paying as per the proposal and contract. Sometimes clients may want to add on additional works, like extending a retaining wall or adding wall screening or plants. That is called a VARIATION, which is done at your request only and will be confirmed with you in writing.
How long will my pool project take?
Most pool builds take between 8 and 14 weeks, from final design approval to completion. Factors like weather, permits, custom finishes, or landscaping add-ons can affect timing. We’ll always keep you updated throughout the build, and your project manager will ensure everything runs smoothly.
Is there a warranty on the pool?
Yes, all of our pools are covered under warranty. We offer a lifetime structural warranty and lifetime structural osmosis warranty on the pool shell. Nexus Pools will email the warranty information on the pool shell directly to you.
Equipment like pumps and lighting also come with their own manufacturer warranties.
If anything comes up post-completion,
we’re just a call away and happy to help!
